I am writing you to let you know how much of an asset you have in Michael Patterson. I have had the pleasure of working with Michael and his staff at Emerald Gardens for about 6 yrs now.

I started coming into Emerald Gardens as a home health nurse, and also had a family member reside there, in the REM unit. I come in contact with many different facilities, and directors. I can honestly say I've never seen another director take pride in his facility and residents like Michael does.

I'm sure that some of his "extra" duties are a given in his position, but its not often that you see another director come out of their office to serve lunch, clean a bathroom, assist with a shower if needed, or simply sit down and chat with a resident, hugging them to show that he cares.

His caring nature and ability to talk to people has been a great help to many anxious families as they make the transition of placing their loved ones in a facility. He is very organized, fair, and a knowledgeable resource to his staff.

Having a facility of 50 + has to be a stressful job, maintaining happiness in families, residents, staff, and outside parties. Michael handles it like a pro, and im thankful we have him here.

I recommend Emerald Gardens 1000 times over again to anyone I talk to. Proud to be a part of his team ! Thank you for your time!

“I just want to thank you and your staff in the Alzheimer’s Unit for everything they did for my grandfather, Kenneth 'Red' Thompson. I was very impressed with the facilities and staff as they greeted us at every shift change and made sure we were alright.

I didn't get a chance to visit him as often as I'd liked since I live in Charleston but I saw that he was taken care of. I would like to especially thank Thomasena.

The stories I heard about her and my grandfather warmed my heart. In his last days when she came in and spoke to him he seemed to calmed down, which in turn calmed us as well. Very few people had that affect on him. It takes a special kind of person to be in that line of work and I can't imagine her being better at another job. If you could, please pass on the thanks to her as well. Thank you for allowing our family to be with our 'Poppie' in his last days. We greatly appreciated it.”

Thank you so much,

Dana Nolan

"I want to express my family's appreciation to each and every single one of you who cared for and about my mother - Ruth Jones. You took such good care of her - from serving her food, to taking her on trips, to helping her get dressed, to counseling her, to cleaning her room, to encouragin her to make pottery and to exercise... the list goes on. You helped her adjust to that last chapter in her life; you extended her life and enriched it - even if she could not see that all the time. However, I do want you to know that at our last appointment with Dr. Burnett on Thursday before she died, she did say to him, "I think I am now happier and more satisfied." I laughingly said, "Can we put that on paper?"

February is the month to express love and gratitude. So, I want to give you a gift card in memory of R.J.

You have a difficult job. You work with and care about elderly who usually do not feel well and who have difficult transitions to make. I know they can be very difficult to please; nevertheless, just know that what you do - the kindnesses you show - all make a wonderful difference in their lives and in their families' lives. You are appreciated.

I will certainly "sing the praises" of Emerald Gardens and your staff."
